We received so many messages about our Iceland trip!!
My first travel blog and I honestly think I have caught the travel bug since our trip to Iceland!
We flew with wow air from Dublin to Reykjavik. We rented a car and on the first day we went to the blue lagoon.I will be obvious here – if you are going to Iceland for a road trip, the more in advance you rent your car, the cheaper it is.
The Blue Lagoon is about 45 minutes outside of Reykjavik and about 20 minutes away from the airport. It’s safe to say that visiting the Blue Lagoon in Iceland is on just about everyone’s bucket list. It’s milky blue water and otherworldly appearance is like something out of a dream.
Day two: We road tripped around the Golden Circle. The Golden Circle is a circular route that covers about 300 kilometres and loops from Reykjavík into central Iceland and back in a day trip. The route takes you through some of the most amazing sights in Iceland, with scenery ranging from natural sites to historic buildings, and gives tourists the chance to experience the diversity of Iceland in a relatively short trip.
There are loads of amazing sights to see along the way. Strokkur is also one of the most reliable geysers in the world, sending plumes of steam and very hot water high into the air, erupting every eight to ten minutes. We also stopped at Gulfoss Waterfall. We went on to stay in Vik that night.
1. Glacier & Ice Cave Trekking
The highlight of our trip. Off roading through glaciers to the ice caves. An absolutely amazing experience. Unfortunately we weren't lucky enough to see the northern lights.
Personal tips :
1. Plan ahead
2. Rent a car
3. Bring lots of layers
4. Go to the blue lagoon
Enjoy every minute of it! I for sure will defo be returning!!
